2026 is already shaping up to be a great year for Prince Harry, as he has finally been granted the private security he has fought for since he and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals in 2020.

Kate Middleton Wants To Reach Out To Meghan Markle But Has 'No Plans' To Be Best Friends
According to reports, the Princess of Wales wants to initiate a conversation with the former Suits actress for the first time in years in an effort to finally put an end to the long-running royal feud. A source told RadarOnline that the Princess of Wales "has made it her mission to reunite Harry and William," adding that "it breaks her heart that the boys aren't on speaking terms."
Kate reportedly believes that Meghan is the crucial first step in getting the brothers back on speaking terms. But insiders have insisted that she is managing expectations when it comes to her own relationship with the Duchess of Sussex…
"She's painfully aware there's no path to Harry without getting Meghan's blessing. That's why she's working with her staff to figure out a viable approach to Meghan," an insider explained, adding: "Kate has no plans to make Meghan a close friend. But she does feel William and Harry's chances of making up would be greater if she and Meghan are able to find common ground."
While Meghan is said to have reached out to Kate privately with well-wishes during her cancer battle, the two women have reportedly barely spoken in years. Things have been frosty between them ever since their infamous disagreement over Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress ahead of Prince Harry and Meghan's royal wedding in 2018, with tensions only deepening following the release of Prince Harry's bombshell memoir Spare in January 2023.
Kate Middleton Will Be Defying Prince William's Wishes
Kate reaching out to Meghan in the hopes of ending the royal feud would naturally mean going against her husband's wishes, as Prince William is known to hold onto grudges. He is also believed to still harbor deep resentment toward both his brother and sister-in-law, but if King Charles gets his way, he won't have a choice when it comes to reconciling!
"Kate has nothing but peace and love in her heart moving into 2026. She's willing to open up dialogue with Meghan after years of giving her the silent treatment, even if Prince William thinks it's a terrible idea," an insider told RadarOnline.
King Charles Is Counting On Kate Middleton
King Charles reportedly wants both Prince William and Kate to be aligned when it comes to reconciling with the Sussexes – even if his eldest son remains reluctant. Sources claim the monarch is ultimately relying on Kate to act as mediator and even soften her husband's stance; but will it be easy?
"Kate is literally his only hope at this point, and he's let her know in no uncertain terms that he's counting on her," a source reportedly told Closer. "He's not framing this as an order, but it's pretty clear that's what this is!"
Will Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Accept The Olive Branch?
The Princess of Wales may be ready to extend an olive branch, but whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will accept it remains to be seen.
It seems like Prince Harry would be very open to hearing what his sister-in-law has to say, as he has reportedly been "desperate" to mend relationships with both his father and brother for years. However, "from Meghan's point of view, it's going to be difficult for her to forgive Kate," the insider noted.
That said, the As Ever founder is reportedly eager for her children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – to build relationships with their cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
"Meghan is incredibly sad her children don't know their cousins, and vice versa," the source said. "That in itself is a perfect starting point."
