Back in 2020, Katy Perry and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, bought a home in Montecito, California from an elderly veteran named Carl Westcott. However, after the sale went through, Westcott attempted to cancel the transaction, claiming he was “mentally incapacitated” at the time. After duking it out in court, the judge ruled in Perry’s favor, but apparently that wasn’t enough for her.

The pop star decided to countersue Westcott, who has been bedridden for the past year due to Huntington’s disease, for $6M in damages and income lost due to not being able to rent out the home during the legal battle. Westcott’s family has spoken out against the stars on several occasions, calling them “greedy” and “unforgivable” among other things. Keep reading for more information.

Katy Perry's Heartless Court Battle

The house in question boasts eight bedrooms, an outdoor pool, and a tennis court, all within a sought-after neighborhood known for its privacy. The worst part, though, is that given Katy's lawyers' points about the family not being able to rent it out, it seems that Katy and Orlando didn't even plan on living there.

Westcott's son, Chart, previously spoke out against the "Wide Awake" singer, saying: "She has no sense of fair play, no empathy, zero empathy, quite the opposite." He also accused the famous couple of "treating ordinary people like dirt," saying the way they've conducted their affairs is "unforgivable."

"The worse condition my father is in, the harsher they've been in trial," Chart continued. "There's no real explanation other than greed."

Westcott's Daughter-In-Law Speaks Out Against Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom

Real Housewives of Dallas star Kameron Westcott, Carl Westcott's daughter-in-law, has now also spoken out, and opened up to the Daily Mail about what the "Roar" singer and her fiancé are currently putting their family through.

"They are not backing down," Kameron told the pub, adding: "There's never a negotiation. They want to go through with it, and you know, for us, we want to be done with this."

Kameron added: "We want to focus on my father-in-law's health. We want to be with him and have the last few days peaceful. This is the last thing we want to deal with."

Fans Slam Katy Perry

The former American Idol judge's fans were also appalled by her behavior, leaving comments online like, "She is sick!" and "She's such a terrible person."

"The two of them combined have a net worth of over $400M and they need to sue an elderly man for $6M?" one person asked. "Disgusting."

"I really can't wrap my head around an elderly disabled veteran telling you he wasn't of sound mind when he sold you his home and you saying not only are we taking you to court but we're suing you again," another person said. "Katy Perry is a despicable woman."
