The “Breakaway” hitmaker, 40, graced the red carpet in Los Angeles in the shimmering piece with statement shoulders and intricate sequins. She shared her look with her 5.9 million Instagram followers, posting a behind-the-scenes pic of her getting ready for the event.

“Tonight’s look on @AmericanSongContest,” she wrote in her caption with a glitter emoji as she tagged her glam team. The “Already Gone” singer’s black-and-gold dress featured glistening black fabric with central, layered gold detailing and gold chain-like embellishments along her sleeves and neckline.
To complete her glamorous look, Clarkson added black tights underneath the dress and paired the item with towering black heeled boots by Stella McCartney. To further amp up her get-up, she added shiny oversized hoop earrings from Jennifer Fisher and wore her long blonde locks into elegant waves with a deep side part.
