Kim Kardashian made a dramatic entrance at the DVF Awards in Venice, Italy, on Thursday night, turning heads with a bold couture look that quickly set fashion circles buzzing.

The reality star wore a gray Maison Margiela 2025 couture cape dress featuring a sweeping train, high neckline, and a camouflaged bodysuit-style bodice that divided the pant legs in an almost architectural design. She completed the striking ensemble with her signature center-parted dark hair and classic matte glam.

Fans React To Kim Kardashian's Cape Dress

Fans were baffled at her outfit choice for the elegant event as they shared their reactions online.

“What is she wearing? Awful,” said one fan. Another wrote, “Her dress looks like a wedgie that really hurts.” A third said, “That has got to be the most hideous, classless dress ever.” A fourth commented, “What on earth is Kim wearing again? It looks like Borat’s sling swimsuit thrown together with a curtain.” A fifth user wrote, “OMG Is this a dress… or a parachute ready to open?” Another person said, “The most revolting ‘gown’ I’ve ever seen. Ugh.”

Setting fashion aside, the mother of four was in Venice to accept the prestigious DVF Leadership Award in recognition of her efforts in criminal justice reform.

The honor was presented by Chris Young, whom she helped secure freedom for after he had served 11 years of a life sentence for a low-level drug offense.

Kim Kardashian Slams Trump Administration's ICE Operations

During her speech, she used the moment to criticize the Trump administration’s ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids, stating they’re targeting "people who have worked so hard to build our country."

"In the news you hear, 'Oh, it’s about people who have committed these crimes, and they’re trying to help out our country.' But then you hear about all of the people who have worked so hard to build our country, and so many people that are such a part of our country getting affected," the Skims founder said, according to Variety. "People I know. People my friends know."

She continued, "You want to believe that there’s a powerful message in protection, but then you see that it’s not really happening like that. It’s really tough, but I think that we have to do what we can to protect the people that have really supported and built our country."

In June, Kim had already voiced her worries about the large-scale ICE operations taking place in her hometown of Los Angeles. Sharing her thoughts on Instagram Stories, she wrote, "Growing up in LA, I’ve seen how deeply immigrants are woven into the fabric of this city. They are our neighbors, friends, classmates, coworkers, and family. No matter where you fall politically, it’s clear that our communities thrive because of the contributions of immigrants. We can’t turn a blind eye when fear and injustice keep people from living their lives freely and safely.”
