Although Prince Andrew has been stripped of his royal titles, it looks like there is something he’ll be holding onto after all.

Following the formal removal of his royal titles due to the allegations tying him to Jeffrey Epstein, it was recently revealed that King Charles will be allowing his brother, Prince Andrew, to keep the war medal and honors he earned throughout his time in the Royal Navy. The news sparked an online debate, as while some internet users and royal family enthusiasts believe he should be allowed to keep his medals, others feel they should be taken, just like his titles were. Read more about the situation below.

King Charles III Will Allow Prince Andrew To Keep His War Medal

It's no secret that Prince Andrew is now one of the most controversial members of the royal family following the ongoing allegations made against him that have tied him to the late and disgraced financier, Jeffrey Epstein.

Although the royal has been wrapped up in scandal for years, especially since Epstein's arrest and passing in 2019, things have only gotten more heated after emails that were allegedly between the two of them were released earlier this year. Despite Andrew's attempts to shut down and deny the allegations that he was involved in Epstein's crimes, King Charles officially began the formal process to have his royal titles removed at the end of October.

Now, instead of being formally referred to as Prince, His Royal Highness, Duke of York, etc., the 65-year-old is now known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. Even though his royal titles have been taken, recent reports came out that the king has decided to let his brother keep the war medal and honors he received during his 22 years with the Royal Navy and while serving in the Falklands War.

There have been tons of internet users and royal family fans keeping up with the latest drama involving Andrew; therefore, when this announcement regarding his war medal was made, they had a lot to say about it.

The news sparked a debate between users on social media platforms like Instagram, as many were torn between whether or not the royal should hold onto his war honors despite the abhorrent allegations being made against him.

"How do you strip someone of something they earned?" asked a user.

"I have mixed feelings," added another. "You can't undo his service and the medals he won in the past. It happened."

"Come on, this is sickening," wrote a user, disapproving of the king's decision.

We'll be curious to see what the future holds for the controversial royal, his family, and his future actions in the spotlight, but for now, he is clearly still causing a stir online.
