The royal family is going through a lot right now, given the ongoing drama with Harry and Meghan's new life in America, and now, the scandals circling around the troubled Prince Andrew, whose name has been involved in the Jeffrey Epstein crimes and controversies for years now. Last week, it was revealed that the disgraced prince was dropping his royal titles, leading the public to wonder if there are other members of the royal family who will have theirs stripped in the near future.
Ever since they left for California and stepped down from their official royal duties in 2020, the Harry & Meghan stars have reinvented themselves into a Netflix series and lifestyle personalities, still focusing on charity projects from time to time. However, they are still referred to by their royal titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Although they might not refer to themselves that way all the time, Meghan subtly corrected a guest on With Love, Meghan, noting that her last name is Sussex, and recently stepped out with a 'DS' engraved bag, which caused some controversy.
For years, UK residents and other internet users have been calling for Harry and Meghan to be stripped of their titles, given they're no longer actively working members of the royal family. According to royal insiders, they're not the only ones, as Prince William himself allegedly agrees, and has been pressuring his father to "cut ties" despite his consideration of reconciling with his estranged youngest son.
"[Harry and Meghan] are shamelessly taking advantage of the king's goodwill," a source told The National Examiner. "Right now he's piling on the pressure for his father to be decisive and consistent, which is a nightmare for Charles as it would likely send Harry and Meghan off the deep end."
Sources Say Prince William Will 'Immediately' Strip Harry & Meghan Of Their Titles When He Takes The Throne
There has reportedly been a lot of back and forth between the current king and his heir to the throne, as while Charles is opening up more to the idea of allowing Harry and Meghan to resume their royal duties and become more active members of their family, Prince William is against all of this.
Given the king's health status, members of the royal family have been preparing themselves for the transition of power when Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, take the throne. Although not all of his plans have been revealed, numerous inside sources have claimed that one of the first things he plans to do is strip the California-based couple of their royal titles, if he doesn't convince his father to do it first.
"It's pretty much accepted within the royal household that once [William] does take the throne, Harry and Meghan will immediately get their titles yanked," an insider told the above publication.
Now, especially that Prince Andrew's title has been revoked, we'll be curious to see if Harry and Meghan truly are next, or if the king decides to let them hold onto theirs until his eldest takes the throne.
