King Charles seems to have a good bond with Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – but the same can’t be said for his relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

According to reports, the King is devastated that he barely sees or talks to his two youngest grandchildren, and seems to blame the Spare author for not making it easy for the family to move on from the ongoing royal feud and reconcile. This is partly due to the things he continues to say about the royal family in interviews, and also his ongoing request for extra security if and when his wife and kids come to the U.K.

King Charles Reportedly Blames Prince Harry For Not Making 'Reconciliation Easy'

"The King does not like conflict and he would love for this all to be resolved," an insider reportedly dished to Grazia. But King Charles isn't going to be a pushover, as the insider explained that "Harry has to earn the trust back."

"The ball is in his court in that respect," the insider continued, adding: "The King loves his son and he is very sad he has not spent any time with Archie and Lilibet, but Harry hasn't made reconciliation easy."

King Charles Has 'Zero Trust' In Prince Harry

Prince Harry claimed in his recent bombshell BBC interview that came after he lost his court battle over security that he had "forgiven" his father and wants to reconcile, because he doesn't know how much time his father has left amid his cancer battle. He told the BBC: "I don't know how much longer my father has, he won't speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile."

However, we don't know whether King Charles will actually want to see him, as an insider told The Sun that the monarch is "frustrated and upset" that Prince Harry continues to air private family matters publicly, which has unsurprisingly made it more difficult for the family to reconnect.

"He needs the world to forgive him. His family have never bent on their stance, which is that he should not take up issues in public," another insider told Hello!, adding: "There is zero trust. The family feels that private conversations with Harry are not possible."

The Ongoing Royal Feud Could Negatively Affect King Charles' Legacy, Royal Experts Say

According to a May 11th New York Times article, royal historian Ed Owens believes that the ongoing royal feud has severely and negatively affected King Charles, who he described as having "had the wind taken from his sails."

Owens went on to claim that the royal family drama could cast a long shadow over the King's reign and legacy, and said: "There is an overhang in the way we see Charles' reign. It hasn't really gotten going, nor are we sure how long it will last."

Former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt also weighed in on how the conflict within the royal family could affect the King's legacy, emphasizing the symbolic role the King plays. "When history comes to be written about the King, this will reflect badly on him," Hunt began, and added: "He represents an institution that is about family, unity, and fostering forgiveness. His role is to bring people together, and yet he can't bring people together on his doorstep."
