The 22-year old makeup mogul recently shared a paid promotion for Sugarbear Sleep gummies with her 188 plus million followers. She appears to be eating the gummies, but not actually chewing or swallowing it. She further captioned the post “I take 2 @SugarBearSleep gummies on the nights I need a little help to fall asleep #ad They are vegan, cruelty-free, and clinically proven! These purple bear gummies are more than just melatonin. #SugarBearSleep!”
Immediately, some of her fans questioned why she needed to promote products like this if she’s already so rich. One commenter posted, “You are not even eating those Kylie. You are rich stop doing this.” Another said, “R u broke or somethin?” Others criticized Kylie for stooping so low to promote “crap like this.” Her older sister, Khole Kardashian, posted a selfie of herself promoting the brand as well.
Many Kylie fans defended her promo too, quoting that “business is business.” Jenner, once a major social media marketer before becoming a makeup mogul, only posted two paid ads via Instagram in 2019. Her 2020 net worth is currently listed at $900 million—apparently, it’s not a billion anymore. Could this be why there’s a sudden return to paid promos?
Regardless of what you think of her business promotions, the Kardashian-Jenner family is successful in their ability to work their social media mojo and make money. Other members of her family have promoted a slew of dubious products in the past. At the end of the day, it’s not about whether or not they stand by a quality product, it’s all about how much money they are making to promote it.
