Hundreds of celebrities descended on Venice last weekend, with private planes arriving from all around the world. One of these celebrities, though, was Leonardo DiCaprio, a self-proclaimed climate activist. Now he’s in hot water with fans, for not only attending Jeff Bezos’ wedding, which wasn’t good for climate change in it and of itself, but also for arriving on a private jet. Keep reading for more information.
Leonardo DiCaprio Attends Jeff Bezos' Wedding
To make things even worse, DiCaprio was clearly trying not to be seen as he arrived at the Venice Airport for the wedding festivities. He came wearing a completely head-to-toe black outfit with a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap pulled down over his eyes. Unfortunately for the 50-year-old, his disguise fooled nobody.
Approximately 90 private jets flew to the Bezos-Sanchez wedding, meaning that the carbon footprint just for arrivals to the wedding is about 5,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide. For context, that is equal to the total energy usage of about 500 homes in the United States for one year. It would require about 82,000 tree seedlings grown for 10 years just to offset.
And yet, self-proclaimed climate change activist Leonardo DiCaprio was there, enjoying the wedding festivities, without a care in the world. Needless to say, fans were furious.

Social Media Reactions
Across social media platforms, users slammed DiCaprio as a "fraud" and a "hypocrite."
One user on X, formerly Twitter, wrote, "Why is Leonardo DiCaprio still pretending to be this Hollywood climate activist and then he goes to Jeff Bezos' wedding and is on a yacht every week. What a fake fraudster."
Another user on Instagram agreed, "For someone who loves the environment I'm pretty shocked he was at this wedding."
"Leo acting like we expect better from him," another one said.
"Leo loves to preach about saving the planet, but then turns around and parties at Jeff Bezos' wedding?" a final user asked. "That's not just a contradiction, it's straight-up hypocrisy."
