McDonald's Customers Are Outraged And Calling Out The Company's 'Greed' After Noticing That Sandwiches Are 'Slider-Sized' Now Following Price Increases

McDonald’s is facing renewed complaints from customers on Reddit over claims that the fast-food chain has been shrinking the size of some of its burgers while continuing to raise prices.

The debate centers on what some customers describe as “slider-sized” burgers, with items including the Filet-O-Fish, cheeseburgers and Big Macs being cited in online discussions. However, the claims are largely based on individual customer experiences and comparisons rather than evidence that McDonald’s has officially reduced the standardized weight of its core burger patties.

One Reddit user sparked the discussion by asking, “Is it true that Mcdonalds has been recently shrinking the size of their food in america and raising prices?”

Customers Discuss McDonald's Alleged 'Slider-Sized' Burgers

The responses were divided.

“Shrinkflation. They have been doing this for years,” one person claimed.

Another wrote, “Raising prices yes, but I have not seen any shrinkage.”

“You must not order the filet o fish. That is slider-sized now,” another commenter said.

“Definitely shrinkage, those patties are [expletive] thin,” someone else claimed.

Another Reddit user pointed out that the issue may not be unique to McDonald’s, writing, “That's nothing new. Alot of companies are doing this not just Mcdonalds.”

One person shared their own experience after ordering a Big Mac for the first time in years.

“I had a big Mac today for the first time in years and it was mostly bread. The patties were crazy thin and way smaller in diameter than the buns. Obviously I didnt weigh the patties but they were mad wimpy. Anecdotal but thats my experience,” they wrote.

However, other customers pushed back on the idea that McDonald’s has reduced the size of its standard patties.

“No, the 10:1 patties are the exact same they've been since the beginning, the fries and drink sizes are also exactly the same they've always been, the prices do continue to rise, however,” one commenter said.

Another offered a more nuanced take, writing, “Raising prices? Definitely. Shrinking portions? Maybe. Probably. Why? Partially because they are paying more for their food and supplies, but also for the sake of higher profits because they can.”

McDonald's Says Standardized Patties Have Not Been Reduced In Weight

The discussion reflects a broader frustration among McDonald’s customers over the rising cost of fast food. But the online debate about shrinking burgers should not be confused with a confirmed nationwide change to the weight of McDonald’s core burger patties.

McDonald’s has previously maintained that its standardized patties have not been reduced in weight. The chain uses different patty sizes depending on the menu item, including the 10:1 patties used for several classic burgers and larger quarter-pound patties.

As a result, customers may perceive changes in portion size because of factors such as preparation, bun-to-patty proportions, inflation and menu pricing, but individual photos and personal experiences do not establish that McDonald’s has officially reduced the size of its core burgers nationwide.

For now, the Reddit discussion remains largely anecdotal, with customers divided between those who believe they have noticed smaller portions and those who say the patties themselves have not changed.
