Fast food isn’t feeling quite so fast or affordable these days. As prices continue to climb across the industry, customers are increasingly questioning whether a quick trip through the drive-thru is worth the cost—especially when the portions and quality don’t seem to match the bill.
Now, Taco Bell customers are joining the conversation, with one Reddit user saying the chain’s prices have finally pushed them to their breaking point. Their post sparked a wave of agreement from other fast food fans, many of whom say they’ve noticed the same price increases and are reconsidering where—and whether—they spend their money.

Taco Bell Customers Say The Prices Are No Longer Worth It
Long gone are the days of fast food as an affordable alternative to cooking at home or eating at a nicer restaurant. If you want to indulge in some cheesy, carby goodness from Taco Bell, you're going to have to shell out a decent amount of cash. And this poster on Reddit is fed up.
"The prices are no longer understandable," they wrote. "A burrito supreme is nearly $6. For a crappy, small fast food burrito. Sodas are $3.50. A single small burrito and a soda will cost me over $10 after tax. Over $10 and you don't even get a meals worth of food."
They also pointed out that even a single crunchy taco costs $2.50, and a dozen is $25, lamenting, "Not even 10 years ago the same boxes were $10 - $12." We miss it, too!
The deals don't make it much better. "They try to force their 'deals' on you so they can push their highest profit margin items," the ranter went on. "They raise the price of their menu to unreasonable points so that even their bad deals look like a bargain. In the end, they're just manipulating you into buying their highest profit margin items. You have no choice anymore, and that would be fine if they weren't trying to charge restaurant prices, but they are."
Commenters shared similar sentiments. One notes that they paid $13 for a Crunchy Taco Supreme and Nacho Bell Grande, but the meal contained "about 1 tablespoon of ground beef and a tiny squirt of sour cream."
That sounds like shrinkflation at its finest.
Fans Say They’re Choosing Other Food Instead
It's sad to be priced out of your favorite fast food chain, but sometimes you just have to say goodbye. And many are making that choice. One commenter wrote: "I almost never eat fast food unless on a good deal."
Another said: "I went into a Taco Bell a month ago and looked at all the prices on their kiosk, and I just gave up and left."
A former Taco Bell superfan echoed that the rising prices and inconsistent food quality ultimately drove them away. "I used to be the biggest Taco Bell fanboy and I would spend a fuckton there. I even bought taco bell shirts. It started with them decimating the menu, then the prices and inconsistency drove me away for good," they wrote.
Ultimately, former fans seem to be rallying around a shared believe that the original poster summed up well: "Paying restaurant prices for fast food and garbage service is unacceptable."
