Meghan Markle Wears Black & White Cape Outfits For Her First Paris Fashion Week
The mom-of-two recently made a major move since she's begun attempting to separate herself and her career from her past involvement in the royal family this weekend, as she touched down in Paris for her first time at Paris Fashion Week. Even more interesting, her husband, Prince Harry, was not by her side.
This was an interesting moment for fans of Meghan's as well as royal family enthusiasts, as it shows she's working hard to build a new life and pursue other interests as her ties to the royal family remain up in the air. Meghan was a VIP invite for the Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2026 show, where she supported the designer Pierpaolo Piccioli, who is now the famous brand's new Creative Director.
For an entire day in the fashionable city, Meghan decided to sport two looks, but interestingly, they both involved capes. For her first appearance, in viral footage, she can be seen stepping out of her hotel in a long, silky white cape that's draped over a coordinating white button-down and matching wide-leg pants. The entire ensemble flowed in a way that almost made it look like a dress at certain angles, but otherwise, it was an all-white, layered moment. She wore her signature long, black hair in a bun.
For her second look, she stunned in a sleek black dress with an added cape or scarf for some dramatic effect. The dress was one-shoulder, and she paired it with simple black heels and minimal jewelry.
The Internet Reacts To Meghan's First Paris Fashion Week Looks On Social Media
While the Duchess's arrival at the coveted fashion week was notable and fascinating, considering not many significant members of the royal family get to attend these shows, her outfits did not get the reviews her styling team may have hoped for.
Many internet users feel this was a significant opportunity for the As Ever founder to show off her styling chops and embrace something new, but they thought that the cape looks were too over-the-top in the wrong way, leaving critical comments on social media platforms like Instagram.
"I'm sure it would look better on a taller person, but it swallows her up, and the details and drape are lost on her frame," wrote an Instagram user, referring to her white outfit.
"Took her hotel sheets out for a night out," joked another.
One user made a jab that it looked like Meghan was "practicing being a ghost for Halloween."
We're not sure if the Suits alum will decide to attend any future Fashion Week events, but for now, the internet hopes her styling team takes some notes for the next time.
