King Charles III’s coronation on Saturday, May 6th was a star-studded style affair. Kate Middleton, now Princess of Wales, was decked out in a custom-made white Alexander McQueen gown and a Jess Collett floral headpiece (which looks suspiciously like a tiara!). And, the headline performer for the event, Katy Perry, was regal in a figure-hugging Vivienne Westwood suit for the coronation and changed into a gold ballgown to sing.
Meghan Markle, on the other hand, spent her weekend relaxing and communing with nature. While Prince Harry was away in London to attend the coronation of King Charles III, Meghan stayed behind in California for her son’s birthday. On coronation day, Meghan went on a hike with a couple of friends—and her athleisure fit is to die for!

Meghan Markle Dons Casual Leggings And A Low-Cut Tee For A Hike During The Coronation
Meghan Markle skipped out on the decadence of the King’s coronation in London for something a little more laid back. The Duchess of Sussex was papped on a hike in Montecito, California with her friends Markus Anderson and Heather Dorak.
In photos of the hike, she wore a casual, athleisure outfit. On the bottom, Meghan opted for a simple pair of form-fitting black leggings. The actress wore a low-cut black t-shirt (which she rolled into a tank) that revealed her neutral sports bra on top. On her feet, Meghan wore hiking shoes from Merrell. Her down-to-Earth hiking attire is easily the most relatable and replicable outfit we’ve seen any member of the royal family wear.
She really upgraded her ensemble with accessories. Meghan added oversized square aviator sunglasses by Victoria Beckham, a straw hat with a black trim, a bandana around her neck, and an olive green parka from J.Crew that she tied to cinch her waist. The Duchess also repped the royal family with some meaningful jewelry.

Meghan Markle Wears Princess Diana’s Jewelry
For the hike, Meghan sported Princess Diana’s Cartier watch and a Bentley & Skinner diamond tennis bracelet. The tennis bracelet is believed to have been gifted to Diana by Charles when they were still married. Meghan reportedly wears Diana’s watch nearly every day and she wears the diamond tennis bracelet for big occasions.
The Duchess wore the bracelet in her now infamous Oprah Winfrey interview. And, according to sources close to the couple, two diamonds from the bracelet were used to create the actress’s three-stone engagement ring in 2017. As for her neck, she sported a Maya Brenner x Abigail Spencer necklace designed by her former Suits co-star.

After Meghan was spotted in her simply chic hiking outfit, some of the articles of clothing sold out. Specifically, the J.Crew olive coat and the hiking shoes from Merrell are no longer available for purchase. Even though many social media users were quick to show Meghan support on coronation day, some commenters (including conservative journalist and media personality, Megyn Kelly) believe that the photos were staged. We, however, think that Meghan was simply enjoying a day out in the sun!
