Perhaps Meghan Markle was telling the truth in the Netflix Harry and Meghan docuseries when she confessed to not knowing much about the royal family before she married Prince Harry back in May 2018, as an insider has reportedly revealed that she allegedly wanted to be a “celebrity” as opposed to a “servant of the people,” the latter of which is what is expected of a working member of the royal family.

Meghan Markle Reportedly Found Reality Of Royal Life 'Unbearable'

According to royal commentator and author Daniela Elser's latest piece for news.com.au, the 41-year-old former Suits actress was disappointed when she found out what life in the royal family wound entail, and not being treated as a celebrity, which she was used to prior to meeting Prince Harry, 38, was "unbearable" for her.

"When you are an American celebrity and you mix with celebrities in the US, you just get used to everyone around you saying how marvelous you are," Elser wrote, recalling a comment a former friend of Prince Harry reportedly made.

"Meghan hated the UK because as a member of the royal family she realized she was going to be treated not as a celebrity but as a servant of the people. That was unbearable for her," she continued, referencing what the Duke of Sussex's friend had allegedly said.

Meghan Reportedly 'Hated' Being Told What To Do

What Elser wrote has also been corroborated by royal biographer Tom Quinn in his book, Gilded Youth, who said that the mom-of-two "hated the fact that she had to do what she was told and go where she was told in the endless and to a large extent pointless royal round."

Quinn recalled speaking to a "Kensington Palace staffer who remembered Meghan well," who said she was completely stunned by the reality of life as a working royal. "I don’t think in the whole of history there was ever a greater divide between what someone expected when they became a member of the royal family and what they discovered it was really like," Quinn wrote. "She was a global superstar but was being told what she could and could not do, what she could and could not say. She hated it."

'Money-Obsessed' Meghan Reportedly 'Disappointed' By Prince Harry's Finances

And that's not all, as royal author Tom Bower has also been talking about Meghan's alleged thoughts about the royal family, this time about their finances, telling GB News earlier month that the "money-obsessed" actress, to use his terms, was "surprised" and "disappointed" that Prince Harry "had very little money."

"Her great surprise and disappointment was that Prince Harry had very little money," Bower said, adding, "She had imagined he would be worth hundreds of millions, if not billions, and she is having to make up for it now." Bower then went on to reference how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex couldn’t afford their current lifestyle as working members of the royal family, adding, "She wants to ride in the big Cadillacs, the private jets on command. At the moment she needs to scrounge for those sorts of things."

Will Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Attend The Coronation?

Of course, this isn’t the only thing people are talking about these days, as the world is still wondering whether the Sussexes will attend King Charles' coronation in May this year. While everyone's opinions keep changing, it's now looking like the monarch has extended an olive branch by finally updating the official royal family website with his grandchildren's new titles, which could influence the Sussexes' decision.

If you'll recall, their son Archie, 3, was previously listed as Master Mountbatten-Windsor on the website, while their 21-month-old daughter Lilibet was listed as Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor. Their names have now been updated to Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex, respectively.
