Everyone knows that if you want your spectacular eyeshadow to stay put through thick and thin–and sweaty summer days–you’ve got to use an eyeshadow primer. It’s a no-brainer!

Whether you’re working with cream shadows or powdered shadows, doing a full on glam look or swiping on some color for a minimal look, eyeshadow primer is a must. No one wants to look in the mirror at 4 pm to find their pigment smudging and creasing. It’s just not a good look.

60+ Gift Ideas For Everyone On Your List

If you’re someone who doesn’t have this product in their handy-dandy makeup bag, we found a great alternative for you! This eyeshadow primer trick is perfect if you need a cheap fix or a quick hack while you’re on the go.

Hello Giggles is here to solve your bargain-beauty problem--just use baby powder!

That’s right, baby powder can work as a great makeup primer for your eyeshadow, plus more! This money-saving beauty hack couldn’t be easier to try. All you need is a bottle of talc-free baby powder and you’re ready to begin.

With a small eyeshadow brush, give your eyelids a light dusting of baby powder (you can also use your fingers if that’s more your style). You’ll want to blend the powder in fully and let it set for about 10 minutes, according to Hello Giggles, before applying any other eye makeup products.

As the baby powder sets, it will absorb any excess oils on your eyelids and provide you with a matte canvas for your eyeshadow. And you’re done!

You may find some white residue around your eyes from the baby powder but that can easily be fixed by wiping it away with another clean brush or Q-tip.
