Piers Morgan Slams 'Ultra-Woke, Left Agenda' As Giorgia Meloni Takes Office In Italy

Piers Morgan took a brief break from criticizing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and slammed the mainstream media on Monday, September 26th’s episode of Fox & Friends for calling Giorgia Meloni, who is on course to become Italy’s first female prime minister, ‘far right.’

The 57-year-old former Good Morning Britain presenter discussed Giorgia Meloni’s fiscally conservative Brothers of Italy party winning Italy’s parliamentary elections, after securing around 26% of the vote, and the media labelling the party as ‘far right’ saying: “There’s no question that’s happening. But what I think is fascinating is how this whole shift is categorized as a shift to the far-right. I wouldn’t categorize her as far-right at all. I would call her a fiscal conservative, in fact, bordering on moderate.”

“So I think this is a classic tendency from the left to over-demonize anyone who is conservative and to brand them immediately far-right and sort of make it some stigma to beat them with,” the Piers Morgan Uncensored presenter continued.

“The reason that she’s won, and the reason why you’re seeing a lot of this sweeping through Scandinavia and other parts of Europe, is I think that people are fed up with what they perceive to be a very ultra-woke left agenda, which is not addressing their real concerns, and in particular, whether it’s in Sweden or Italy or other countries in Europe, on the issue of illegal immigration,” Morgan continued.

He added: “And I think that is the one issue you can trace to all these countries which have moved to the right. There is a belief by the people of these countries that their governments have not been addressing, what they perceive to be, a very serious issue.”

Morgan also reiterated some of the points he made on the show on his own Twitter account on September 26th, while suggesting that anyone who thinks Meloni is a ‘fascist’ to “brush up” on their “Nazi/Fascist history.” Alongside a picture of Meloni, the former Britain’s Got Talent judge wrote: “Italy’s new PM, Giorgia Meloni, is not ‘far-right’ If you think she is, you really need to brush up on your Nazi/Fascist history. She’s what she says she is… center-right. The left should stop calling every conservative opponent Nazis/Fascists. It’s so lazy.”

Naturally many of his Twitter followers had thoughts. “I’ve just read her stance on political issues on Wikipedia and it seems fairly Nazi/Fascist to me,” one user wrote.

“And maybe you should actually do more research about her views & platform & not be misled by disguised rhetoric which is used to mitigate her more extreme views,” wrote another, adding: “I agree, not every conservative politician should be called a fascist, but we also need to point it out when it’s true.” Another user commented: “Checks @piersmorgan track record on recent political leaders… Trump? Johnson? Now Meloni… maybe we have to wait and see but don’t think you’re the greatest judge.”
