As we age, our bodies naturally produce fewer essential nutrients needed for maintaining youthful skin, strong bones, and overall vitality. While a healthy diet and lifestyle are key to aging gracefully, certain supplements can provide extra support by promoting collagen production, reducing inflammation, and protecting against oxidative stress. Some of these supplements have been shown to help slow down the aging process and keep you looking and feeling your best.

Dr. Robert Love, a neuroscientist, revealed three “really powerful” supplements everyone should be taking because they can “reverse” symptoms of aging. According to him, NMN, CoQ10, and collagen peptides are the ones to add to your routine. Read on to learn more!

1. NMN

Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) is a powerful anti-aging supplement because it helps boost levels of NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) in the body. NAD+ is a crucial molecule that supports cellular energy production, DNA repair, and mitochondrial function, all of which decline as we age.

“NMN is a precursor to NAD. NAD is an energy source used throughout your body. NAD also helps repair DNA or fuels the repair of DNA. So, by taking NMN, this helps fuel the repair of DNA, and that can slow down and even reverse aging or symptoms of aging.”

He suggests looking for ones that are third-party tested.

2. CoQ10

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a powerful antioxidant that plays a key role in energy production and cellular health, making it an essential anti-aging supplement. As we age, our natural CoQ10 levels decline, which can lead to fatigue, weakened heart function, and increased oxidative stress—all of which contribute to aging.

“The research on CoQ10 shows you need about a thousand milligrams a day to really get the anti-aging benefits for your brain. It helps with Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, [according to] double-blind, placebo-controlled studies," he notes. "You need to basically do 5 to 10 times what’s on the bottle,” adding that before you make any decision, it’s important to check with your medical doctor first.

According to research, he says 1000 to 3000 milligrams is “very powerful for reversing aging in the brain and improving mitochondrial health throughout your body.”

3. Collagen peptides

Collagen is the primary protein responsible for skin elasticity, hydration, and firmness, so supplementing with collagen peptides can reduce wrinkles, improve skin texture, and promote a more youthful appearance.

“Collagen peptides are really, really helpful for your skin and joints. Women who take collagen peptides have stronger bones and stronger muscles.” Noted!
