In his bombshell memoir, Spare, Prince Harry, 38, admitted using the drugs cocaine, cannabis, and magic mushrooms in the past. A lawyer says that this could threaten his US visa, saying that there was “no exception for royalty.” The conservative think tank, Heritage Foundation, is calling for the Duke of Sussex’s US visa application to be released to see whether he admitted his drug use before coming to California with his wife Meghan Markle, 41, in 2020.

Prince Harry’s Drug Use Cold Stop Him From Flying For His Father’s Coronation

The Heritage Foundation is calling for the duke’s visa application to be released. The director of the conservative think thank, Mike Howell, said, “This request is in the public interest in light of the potential revocation of Prince Harry’s visa for illicit substance use and further questions regarding the Prince’s drug use and whether he was properly vetted before entering the United States.”

Former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani told Page Six, “An admission of drug use is usually grounds for inadmissibility. That means Prince Harry’s visa should have been denied or revoked because he admitted to using cocaine, mushrooms, and other drugs.” Rahmani is the president of West Coast Trial Lawyers and is based in Los Angeles. He added that there was “no exception for royalty or recreational use.”

However, a Texas-based immigration lawyer Sam Adair also told the publication that it was “unlikely that these admissions will present a problem.” This is because there were no criminal convictions. Attorney James Leonard confirms this position. He told the publication that revealing in a book that “you experimented with drugs when you were a young man” would not be enough evidence for immigration officials to launch an investigation into the duke’s status.

In his memoir, Spare, and interviews, Harry admitted using cocaine, cannabis, and magic mushrooms. He said that marijuana and psychedelics “really helped” him with his “trauma” growing up in the royal family. The duke also clarified that cocaine was more of a “social thing.”

Harry discussed his drug use in an interview with therapist Dr. Gabor Maté. Harry told him, “[Cocaine] didn’t do anything for me, it was more a social thing and gave me a sense of belonging for sure, I think it probably also made me feel different [from] the way I was feeling, which was kind of the point. Marijuana is different, that actually really did help me.”

The duke also revealed in his book that he first took cocaine at age 17 and did a “few more lines” on other occasions. He also admitted to hallucinating at an event in California and smoking cannabis after his first date with his now-wife. Harry also spoke about his “positive” experience with the psychedelic drug ayahuasca. He says that it “brought [him] a sense of relaxation, release, comfort, a lightness.”

King Charles III’s coronation is on May 6 and Prince Harry is expected to attend (without Meghan!). And, he reportedly won’t be in the procession with the rest of his family.
