Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is back to being a punchline on the internet as people can’t get over the presentation of one of his latest initiatives.

The Health and Human Services Secretary is facing backlash online after his latest comments about the Trump administration’s healthcare fraud crackdown left social media users questioning his explanation. During a recent presentation about the government’s efforts to eliminate improper healthcare subsidy payments, he argued that people whose subsidies are being canceled often don’t even know they were enrolled in multiple programs, prompting critics to mock his words and question his qualifications. Read more about the situation below.

RFK Jr. Announces New Healthcare Fraud Initiative

The 72-year-old recently joined the Trump administration‘s efforts to crack down on alleged healthcare fraud, with the Department of Health and Human Services announcing that it had canceled Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies for over 180,000 people who were either already enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, etc., or listed as deceased. The administration claims that the move could save taxpayers around $1.5B annually.

During the presentation, RFK Jr. defended the decision by arguing that the government was not taking away people’s healthcare coverage, but rather ending duplicate subsidies or payments associated with deceased people. However, his explanation caught people’s attention, especially during the press conference for it on October 14th, when he suggested that many of those affected didn’t even know they were enrolled in multiple programs.

“They don’t even know they were enrolled in anything,” he said. “They never make a claim.”

RFK Jr. Gets Mocked For His Comments During Healthcare Fraud Presentation

The health secretary‘s conference sparked backlash on social media, where viewers questioned his explanation of the initiative and mocked the way he presented the information. Some users felt that his comments made little sense, while others argued that the viral moment highlighted his alleged lack of qualifications to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

“Never made a claim, so the coverage never mattered,” responded an X user. “That is their logic. Insurance exists for the day health fails. Treating unused protection as proof it can be taken is cruelty.”

“That looks like an SNL sketch,” added another user.

“How can you be so stupid that you don’t know the fundamental concept of INSURANCE?” one user asked, as another commented, “Thank God his dad and uncles aren’t alive to see this.”

“This guy is a colossal failure in the Trump administration,” a user commented. “He doesn’t know about anything.”

“So, instead of taking it away from them, maybe help make them aware of the benefits they can receive?” responded a user to the initiative.
