Rosie O’Donnell is just one of a handful of A-listers who has moved from the U.S. to Europe since Donald Trump began his second term in the White House. And akin to fellow celebs such as Ellen DeGeneres and Robin Wright, Rosie hasn’t shied away from admitting that Trump is a major – if not the main – reason behind her relocation.
Trump and O’Donnell’s feud famously dates back to 2006, when the comedian first criticized him on The View. Over the years, Trump has repeatedly mocked Rosie’s appearance, among other things, while she has slammed him for everything from his policies to his behavior.
Rosie O'Donnell Slams Donald Trump In New Interview, And Says 'We Are Doomed As A Democracy'
The 63-year-old comedian, talk show host, and actress slammed Trump and the state of the U.S. in a new interview with Australia's The Daily Telegraph earlier this week. She said: "What's coming is fascism in the United States, pure and simple."
"Christian white nationalism, and that's not democracy, and that's not a democratic republic, and you know, that's not who we are," she continued, adding: "I feel that if we let them continue on, we are doomed as a democracy."
She previously made comments about the state of the U.S. on TikTok earlier this year, saying: "It's been heartbreaking to see what's happening politically and hard for me personally, as well. The personal is political, as we all know."
She added: "When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that's when we will consider coming back."

Rosie O'Donnell Loves Life In Ireland And Has Applied For Citizenship
On the other hand, O'Donnell is seemingly loving life in Ireland, where she is currently living with 12-year-old daughter Dakota. The former The Rosie O'Donnell Show host, who previously claimed that she didn't feel "safe" under Trump's presidency, has repeatedly praised her new location, where she's been living since January 2025.
"Never, for one moment since I arrived here, did I regret my choice," O'Donnell confirmed in a past interview with Variety. She explained more on TikTok, and said at the time: "Although I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that's what I decided would be best for myself and my 12-year-old child."
O'Donnell loves life in Ireland so much that she has actually applied for citizenship! "I am applying and about to be approved for my Irish citizenship as my grandparents were from there and that's all you need," she said in her new Daily Telegraph interview.
"It will be good to have my Irish citizenship, especially since Trump keeps threatening to take away mine," she added, in reference to Trump's recent threats about her U.S. citizenship.

Donald Trump Threatens To Remove Rosie O'Donnell's US Citizenship
Back in July, Trump took to Truth Social and wrote: "Because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"
As predicted, O'Donnell didn't take that message lying down, and immediately clapped back at Trump. That same day, she took to Instagram and posted a photo of him alongside Jeffrey Epstein with the caption: "Hey Donald – you're rattled again? 18 years later and I still live rent-free in that collapsing brain of yours."
She went on: "You call me a threat to humanity but I'm everything you fear: a loud woman a queer woman a mother who tells the truth an American who got out of the country b4 u set it ablaze."
