It's way past your bedtime, you're exhausted, and the last thing you need to do is charge your iPhone so that it will be ready to go the next day. If you're like a lot of iPhone users, you probably plug in your charger without thinking twice about your phone case — but there's one frightening reason why charging your iPhone with the case is never a good idea.

The Case For Removing Your iPhone Case
Your iPhone battery is very sensitive to heat — and can easily overheat and begin to lose lifespan if you let it get too hot. Apple recommends removing certain iPhone cases before you charge your phone since the case acts as an insulator and, as your phone charges, can hold heat in and cause your battery to become less efficient over time.
Avoid Extreme Temperatures
As a general rule, you should not only remove your iPhone case before charging your device, but should also avoid charging your phone in a hot room or in direct sunlight. If you are charging your phone in a case and notice that it's overheating, remove your phone from the case and wait until it cools down before plugging it in again.
