Diddy Only Convicted On Two Counts

Today, July 2nd, Sean "Diddy" Combs was convicted on two counts of transportation for prostitution related to two women, including his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. His sentencing won't be until October (unless the motions to expedite are approved), but the most he can be sentenced for is 20 years. However, actual sentencing guidelines suggest he'll likely receive 4-5 years, with the defense requesting just 2 years.

Combs may face new civil lawsuits from addition accusers—reportedly there are already claims being filed—and the defense can appeal targeting the prostitution convictions. One thing is clear though, the world is wondering how on Earth this man isn't spending life in prison.

Legal Expert Weighs In

Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor and a legal commentator, spoke to People about how much jail time he thinks Diddy will receive. "He is likely going to get little to no time," he explained. "He may even get time served and prostitution has a 10 year maximum. But the fact that he was acquitted of the most serious counts, The government would not have brought this case had they thought they could only get prostitution."

"[This was] a huge overwhelming win by the defense and a tremendous loss for the prosecution," says Rahmani. "There is no other way to spin it. This is the most expensive prostitution trial in American history."

"The judge may actually grant bond because he's been acquitted of the most serious counts," he added. "So I would expect them to make a renewed motion for bond. But even if that motion is denied, he's going to be out soon."
