Serena Williams Shows Off Her Weight Loss In A Silky Gown At The Met Gala

The tennis pro was one of many prestigious guests at this year's Met Gala, whose theme was "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." This was not her first time attending the major event, as she's been going for a few years and was even a co-chair for the 2019 gala. Since then, she's achieved even more in her career and has also undergone a dramatic weight loss.

After having her second daughter, Adira River, in 2023, the 43-year-old began opening up to her fans about how she wanted to lose some of the extra weight she had put on after becoming a mom. She famously set a goal for herself, which was to fit back into a denim skirt she had purchased before getting pregnant.

Serena's fans and social media followers were so proud of her when she reached her weight loss goal and shared a video of herself putting the skirt on and saying, "I need to give myself credit."

She got to show off her impressive weight loss at the gala on May 5th, when she arrived wearing a long, silky, seafoam green gown designed by Edward Enninful, who attended the event by her side. The gown hugged her smaller yet toned figure and was off-shoulder. Below her torso, a strip of the dress was made of a sheer white lace material that showed off her legs.

The gown was paired with a dramatic, puffy cape she carried behind her. In addition to the breathtaking gown, Serena debuted a new hairstyle: a short blonde haircut with a 1920s-inspired wave in the front. She accessorized her look with vintage diamonds, including a set of dangly earrings, a bracelet, and a ring.

"For every dandy, there's a gown," she wrote in the caption of the high-quality Instagram post of her look.

Fans React To Serena's 'Sensational' Met Gala Look On Instagram

After the gala ended, the mom of two shared several photos of herself at the event on Instagram. In one of her posts, she wrote that she "felt like a modern-day Cinderella," and her loyal fanbase wholeheartedly agreed with her, showering her with positive comments.

"We don't have words to describe how beautiful you are," wrote a fan.

"Magnificent," added another. "You look sensational, Serena."

"What a gorgeous dress and color!" commented a follower.

"You look divine!"

Other fans wrote that the award-winning athlete was a "trendsetter" and her waist was "snatched." While she doesn't comment on her weight loss as much as she did in 2024, she was quite vocal about achieving her goals through a healthy diet and exercise after fitting back into her skirt.

While documenting other pieces of clothing that she once couldn't fit into, she revealed that she was training harder than before and watching what she was eating.

Serena's hard work has certainly paid off, and fans loved how poised and confident she looked as she strutted her athletic, post-baby body across the Met Gala's blue and daffodil-printed carpet this year. We're excited to see what other event ensembles she has in store for us.
