You may be paying closer attention to the apps that you use in an effort to reduce battery drainage — and that’s all well and good. But there are actually settings you may not be aware of that are enabled and could be sapping up tons of device power. Other settings could simply be making your user experience less enjoyable. The unfortunate thing is that it’s up to you as the user to go in and manually change those settings, but once it’s done, you may just notice a significant difference in the way your device runs. Knowledge is key — this is the one setting that many experts agree you should turn off immediately.

The first setting that warrants your attention is Bluetooth and AirDrop, which are both always looking for ways to connect, even though there is no need for them to be on all of the time, says Thilo Huellmann, Chief Technology Officer at Levity.ai.
“Go to Settings > Bluetooth and slide the toggle to switch off Bluetooth. Navigate to Settings > General > AirDrop > Receiving Off to turn off AirDrop,” Huellmann says.“AirDrop can also be disabled from the Control Center. Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen on iPhone X and later models, or from the bottom of the screen on older models. Slightly press down on the top-left menu choices. Choose Receiving Off from the menu that appears after tapping AirDrop.”
When Bluetooth and AirDrop work to try and connect you, this also consumes battery power from your device. But there are other settings that are a little more sinister and worth looking at, as well — like Ads Personalization.
“It's a huge tracking system which is the reason why you see such precisely tailored ads,” says Harriet Chan, director and co-founder of CocoFinder. “It's all about sending information about the user's phone to ad networks so they can send you most relevant advertisements.”
Chan says Ads Personalization is not a good option if you worry about privacy as Google keeps tracking all the information you provide and that turning it off can protect your sensitive information or private data.
To turn off Ads Personalization go to
Open Settings.
Navigate to Google> Ads.
Disable Ads Personalization
