Gatekeeping when it comes to beauty products is out — revealing all to help other women is in!

Sharon Stone didn’t shy away from talking about her hair loss recently as the result of a stroke. Even though we know that hair loss in women is super common and can result because of aging, genetics, medications, illness, and even stress, many women still feel hesitant (understandably) to open up about their personal hair loss journeys. But Stone used her celebrity status for good by raving about the only shampoo and conditioner that worked for her — and actually helped her grow back hair. Here’s what you need to know about her haircare regimen.

Stone, who is 65, has been vocal about the stroke she suffered in 2001 that led her into a seven-year recovery stage in which she says she had trouble finding work in Hollywood. At the Raising Our Voices luncheon event, she told Hollywood Reporter: “I had a stroke in 2001, I had a 1% chance of survival, I had a nine-day brain bleed.” And even though the health scare clearly wasn’t her fault, Stone went on to say that she felt she had to keep the details of it hidden: “When it first happened, I didn’t want to tell anybody because you know if something goes wrong with you, you’re out.”

Sharon Stone’s Shampoo & Conditioner Rec For Hair Loss

After her stroke, Stone says she experienced hair loss on the sides of her head — and nothing she tried worked. And then she discovered one haircare system that she credits with making all of the difference: Augustinus Bader’s haircare products. Stone says she relies on three products, specifically: its shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in hair treatment.

Of course, all of the burning questions follow: do Augustinus Bader hair products really work? How much are they (sad to say: not nearly cheap enough), and how can you get your hands on them?

Let’s start with what we know: Stone swears the shampoo and conditioner helped her combat post-illness hair loss and grow back her hair. In an interview with Byrdie, Stone revealed: “I started using this Augustinus Bader shampoo and conditioner and after-shampoo leave-in conditioner all the hair I had lost under here, on the sides from the stroke, grew back. And I have hair!”

Here’s what else we can tell you: it’s ingredient list is pretty impressive and includes maca root, watercress, and bamboo — plant extracts that are known to stimulate hair follicles and help prevent breakage. The ingredients we don’t have insight on include Bader’s proprietary TFC8 technology blend, which the brand claims can help with individual hair needs.

As you might expect from a haircare line that counts celebs like Stone, Kim Kardashian, Hailey Bieber, and Salma Hayek as fans. Augustinus Bader’s products aren’t what you’d call “cheap.” You can expect to pay $57 for the shampoo and $57 for the conditioner at Sephora. The leave-in treatment is priced at $52. A little of each will go a long way, though (just in case you need an excuse to splurge).

What Do Reviewers Think?

We get it: celeb endorsements aren’t always the most trusted (though our money is on Stone with this one). So, what do reviewers have to say about Augustinus Bader’s shampoo and conditioner? The shampoo has received mostly favorable feedback and enjoys a healthy 3.8-star rating. One reviewer writes, “I got the shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment. All together my hair feels healthier with less shedding. The shampoo makes my head feel super clean.”

And another reviewer addressed how this product helped change her hair: “This shampoo has brought my hair back to its normal texture! My hair was brittle and damaged but now its healthier and thicker!!!”

If you’re struggling with hair loss and at your wit’s end trying to find a shampoo and conditioner that can help, this celeb favorite may be right up your alley.
