Congrats are in order for mom of two, Shay Mitchell, who just welcomed a baby girl with her boyfriend, Matte Babel! The Pretty Little Liars icon, 35, just confirmed that she had given birth to her second daughter, speaking with People Magazine at an event in Los Angeles.
The couple, who have been together since 2017, welcomed their second child just a few weeks ago, Mitchell revealed. The two also share another daughter, Atlas Noa, 2. Speaking with People, Mitchell said, “I feel awesome. I feel really, really good. It definitely takes a village. I’m really lucky my parents are in town and everybody’s been really helpful.” The Dollface actress added that her daughter Atlas “is loving” being a big sister. “She is so excited. She’s been incredible,” Mitchell said, “She helps me change diapers and it’s good — she loves it.”

To fans’ delight, the You star shared the very first photo of the newborn in an Instagram post with her 33.4 million followers this week. Mitchell revealed the significant name of her daughter, Rome, and how her great-grandmother is her namesake. (Aww!) In a beautiful shot, Mitchell is seen wearing a gold necklace that reads, ‘Rome,’ while cradling the baby. Mitchell explained in her IG caption that she named her daughter after her grandmother, who she sadly said goodbye to in February 2022.
“Losing the most important person in my life in the same year I welcomed my second daughter has shifted everything for me, but one thing remains steady in my soul — I’m certain they spent time together and that brings me peace and joy,” she wrote, “We’re so happy you’re here Rome, named after my best friend, my soulmate, my “person,” my Grandma Romaine.”

Mitchell first announced her second pregnancy in February of this year, in a post that honored her grandmother simultaneously. While sharing a photo of her baby bump, Mitchell wrote at the time, “Saying goodbye to a loved one while simultaneously experiencing the joy of welcoming another into this world is the great cycle of life. It is also my most challenging season to date.”
She continued, “I can’t help but think this was the universe’s plan all along, knowing I would need other worldly joy to cushion the blow of losing one of the most important people in my life. Yet, this is proof that love, life and loss can profoundly exist all at the same time.” Mitchell concluded her message, “Gram, I miss you every day. Little one, we are so excited to meet you. I breathe a sigh of peace knowing you two are already connected in such a cosmic way.”

As Mitchell has been sharing photos of her baby bump’s stages throughout her entire pregnancy, fans couldn’t be happier to finally see the first image of her baby, Rome. “So so so happy for you!” wrote one fan on Mitchell’s post as another added, “2 beautiful daughters and a beautiful mom!” Mitchell’s famous friends and former PLL co-stars also left comments for her, with Ashley Benson writing, “I love you my little Rome baby.” Tyler Blackburn wrote, “This is so beautiful Shay. Congratulations.” Sophia Bush also commented, “There she issssss,” with heart-eye emojis (summing up our exact thoughts, as well!)
