For many people, streaming apps are slowly replacing expensive cable subscriptions. But, even in an age where there is no shortage of streaming apps at your fingertips, apps that entertain aren’t all one and the same. Some apps take the cake as leaders in this industry, while others are continually ranked toward the bottom of the list.

Wondering which to choose and which to discard? Here are four streaming apps no one should be using anymore in 2020, according to experts.

Vudu

According to tech experts at Looper, which ranked the top 10 major streaming services from worst to best, Vudu comes in dead last. “With per-piece pricing for movies and TV shows, the cost of using VUDU to watch your favorite programs can quickly add up. It's definitely closer to iTunes than Netflix or Hulu—i.e. more of an on-demand service than all-inclusive streaming … “

PlayStation Vue

The biggest problem with PlayStation Vue is its prices, according to Looper. Even though it offers the same service as your regular cable subscription, with the ability to stream up to five devices, it will cost you $29.99 to $64.99 a month, which means you aren’t saving a whole lot of money with this service.

Starz

Starz has been around for a while now and its subscription cost is fair, but it has yet to gain steam and become a popular streaming option, mainly because it lacks popular content. According to Looper: “At $8.99/month, STARZ beats both Showtime and HBO Now when it comes to cost—but with fewer popular series under its belt, the streaming service hasn't gained subscribers as quickly as other premium providers.”

Showtime Anytime

Coming in as a better option that the last three streaming apps, but still not a top choice (yet) you’ll find Showtime Anytime, which charges between $8.99 to $10.99 a month and has a few original series like Homeland and Shameless. The service isn’t as popular as HBO and Netflix, but it’s probably worth hanging on to — it shows a lot of promise and just keeps getting better and better.

As for the streaming service that came up on top? No surprise here: Netflix takes the win, thanks to highly rated shows and original programming like Tiger King and Stranger Things.
