In its continuous mission to invigorate its menu, Subway has introduced four new deli subs this summer of 2023. This marks the most recent update of the company’s effort to improve its brand (which began around two years ago when a federal judge in California concluded that the sandwich chain could be sued due to false claims of its tuna products being “100% tuna“).
To bring this new concept to fruition, Subway made the move to spend over $80 million on automated deli meat slicing machines to place in their stores. This action not only assists in offering freshly sliced meats to their customers, but also brings to life their revised slogan, “Eat Fresh Refresh.”
To emphasize its freshly sliced meats and new sandwiches, Subway offered customers the opportunity to get 1 million free Deli Heroes subs on July 11, 2023.

In a new press release, Trevor Haynes, president of Subway's North American operations said: "Over the past two years, we overhauled our expansive pantry of ingredients and debuted a whole new way to Subway with chef-crafted signature sandwiches."
Dubbed "Deli Heroes," these four new sandwiches are brimming with freshly sliced meats and double the provolone cheese on an Italian artisan bread. Topping the list is the Titan Turkey (#15 on the menu), packed with turkey and provolone, along with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and mayo.
Up next is the Grand Slam Ham (#99), delivering 33% more meat than a regular Subway sub, accompanied by the same fixings. Another standout, the Garlic Roast Beef (#17) supplies roast beef, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a special roasted garlic aioli.
And for a truly over-the-top treat, The Beast (#30) is piled with pepperoni, turkey, ham, roast beef, and salami plus two condiments - mayo and Subway's MVP Vinaigrette.
Earlier this year, Subway committed to providing customers with the highest quality and freshness with their $80 million investment into installing deli meat slicing machines in its restaurants. As part of this promise, they held a free Deli Heroes sub giveaway on July 11th, 2023, allowing customers to sample the new menu items from 10am-12pm at participating locations.
This free sample was not the first of its kind; in July of 2022, the sandwich chain held a similar promotion to debut the Subway Series sandwiches.
