Burger King customers are calling out what they say is a disappointing change to one of the chain’s breakfast sandwiches. One Reddit user recently shared a photo of a Burger King Croissan’wich with an unusually thin egg patty, claiming the portion was dramatically smaller than what they had received in the past.
“I paid the same amount of money (about $6 Canadian for 1 without a coupon/deal) that I’ve paid for my breakfast sandwiches for years, but this sandwich was pitiful,” the wrote.
The post has sparked a conversation in the shrinkflation subreddit. “Shrinkflation” is when a company reduces the size or amount of a product while keeping the price the same or even increasing it. In this case, the Reddit user questioned whether the smaller egg patty was an example of shrinkflation or skimpflation—”The packaging and the price are the same but this sandwich is much smaller and thinner than any I’ve ever bought from Burger King before,” they wrote—but either way, they weren’t happy with the amount of food they received for their money.

Regardless of the size of the egg patty, one commenter seemed to take issue with the concept of an egg patty in general: "Egg patty? Is it that hard to crack an egg?"
"Are you really expecting fresh eggs (or anything) from a fast food chain?" another challenged, while McDonald's fans claimed that "McDonald's can do it."
But the original poster's main complaint remained the amount of egg in the sandwich—and whether customers are getting less for the same price.
While the Reddit post doesn't establish that Burger King has officially reduced the size of its egg patties across the board, there's no denying that customers become frustrated when a familiar menu item suddenly seems noticeably smaller.
