Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are facing backlash after a new report claimed that the couple had their elaborate wedding decorations burned after their reported $30 million wedding.

The pop star and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end reportedly went all out for their big day, but some fans are questioning why the extravagant decor allegedly had to be destroyed instead of being reused. Now, social media users are calling the move wasteful and unethical. Read more about the situation below.

Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Reportedly Had Their $30M Wedding Decor Burned

The Eras Tour star and football player reportedly tied the knot at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 3, 2026, in front of more than 1,000 guests. The lavish celebration was reported to have cost around $30 million, with the venue transformed into a dreamy, forest-inspired setting for the couple’s ceremony and reception.

However, a new report from the Daily Mail has revealed what allegedly happened to the elaborate decor once the festivities were over. According to an insider who spoke to the publication, the custom-made furnishings, artificial trees, garden-like structures, and other decorations were packed up and transported from New York to be incinerated.

The source claimed that the decision was made to prevent anyone from taking the items and selling them, with the team allegedly wanting to ensure there were no “traces” of the wedding left behind.

“They didn’t want people to steal it and then auction it or sell it, so they just burned it all,” the source claimed. “They had told us it was going to be incinerated, but I don’t know where they actually physically incinerated it…The fact that no one has relics of it and it all had to get burned and properly disposed of is kind of crazy.”

Taylor & Travis Face Backlash Over Allegedly Burning Their Wedding Decorations

The report has sparked criticism online, with some social media users wondering why the couple's special wedding decor reportedly had to be destroyed instead of being donated, recycled, or repurposed for future events.

Others carried on backlash they've recieved in the past for Taylor's billionaire status and indicators of her 'excessive' wealth, claiming the wedding should not have been so extravagant in the first place.

"Many schools here could have used all these things!" responded an Instagram user. "My son's drama class had to hand-make props for their shows. I hope this is fake news."

"I mean, community theaters, high schools, couldn't anyone have used it," echoed another. "This is so ridiculous."

"We're in an economic and climate crisis; it feels really overly wasteful and decadent to turn wedding decorations into pollution," a Reddit user added. "Billionaires really are just a cancer on this planet."

"She's a billionaire," responded another. "There are no ethical billionaires."

"This is so wasteful, oh my," a user wrote. "She truly is like a movie villain."

"Who cares if somebody has her wedding decorations?" asked another. "This is insane."
