It may sound too good to be true, but the health benefits of sipping white tea include everything from healthier skin and hair, to cancer prevention, treating diabetes, improving mental clarity, and general anti-inflammation properties.

The antioxidant-rich, anti-inflammatory, belly-fat blasting white tea may be your best bet when it comes to boosting energy, metabolism and overall weight loss, health experts say.

White Tea

“White tea is the least processed of all the standard teas,” Dr. Matt Chalmers, health and wellness expert, author and nutrition speaker tells us. “It can help the gut heal and absorb nutrients, which in turn can lead to an increase in normal bodily function.”

As a result, metabolism is boosted, and thus, in turn weight loss.

Additionally, white tea has been known to help with attention and focus, "as well as a sense of calming due to its high concentration of L-Theanine," Dr. Chalmers explains. It contains a number of "important bio-flavonoids," which can aide in oral health, blood vessel health and skin health.

White tea is also a great tea for diabetics to drink as it will help reduce sugar levels in the body, he explains. "Another potential benefit is it can help with clearing the liver so that the liver can help with digestion and pulling inflammation out of the body."

The most important function that white tea offers is its ability to reduce reactive oxidative stress or "free radical damage," he underscores.

"Unlike green tea that is dried using high temperatures, white tea is dried naturally using sunlight or low temperatures," fitness and health expert Jillian Michaels tells us. "This preserves the antioxidants, which allows white tea to contain three times as many polyphenols as green tea."
