It’s no secret that we all reach for a tasty hot drink every now and then. It’s honestly a little too easy and convenient to stop at your favorite local coffee shop for a midday pick-me-up. While occasionally enjoying a cup of hot coffee is harmless, you should think twice before you dare to switch up your classic order.

Many coffee shops serve yummy hot drinks that are actually loaded with lots of sugar and extra calories. From lattes to fancy teas, it’s definitely hard to keep track of what you should drink and what you should steer clear from entirely–especially when it comes to dieting.

While Starbucks is a great spot to pick up a quick drink, you need to be wary of the assortment of menu options before placing your order. Luckily, we’ve got you covered with the one unexpected hot drink you need to cut out of your order ASAP for the sake of weight loss.

Starbucks offers some delicious hot drinks like teas, hot chocolates, juices, steamers, and coffee of course.

According to Starbucks’ website, a Grande Peppermint Hot Chocolate has a total of 470 calories and 61 grams of sugar. Another popular drink at Starbucks is the Cinnamon Dolce Créme. A Grande version of the Cinnamon Dolce Créme rakes in 350 calories and 43 grams of sugar in just one sitting. How crazy is that?!

Other than traditional black hot coffee and certain types of teas, you should stay away from ordering most Starbucks hot drinks. These hot drinks are packed with calories, sugars, and at times, even loaded with chocolate and caramel syrups.

According to Healthline, there is a healthy go-to hot drink you could order from Starbucks to benefit your metabolism. Healthline recommends drinking green tea to boost your metabolism since it is low in calories and also has metabolism-boosting properties.
