If you’ve broken the hardware on your iPhone or iOS device, such as cracked a screen or experienced some water damage, or if you’ve noticed a glitch in how the phone’s software is running, it might be time to make a visit to your local repair shop or kiosk. If you don’t have Apple Care insurance or live near an Apple store, these shops are a good alternative, and often quite cost effective.

But buyer beware—not all repair stores are created equal and when it comes to expensive tech devices, you can never be too careful as a consumer.
