A big surprise has emerged in the smartphone arena: “Trump Mobile,” complete with its own gold‑colored T1 phone and a $47.45 monthly plan. This mobile venture, which was recently announced by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, has drawn immediate attention — and skepticism — from tech experts and social media alike. With bold claims of U.S. design, 5G coverage, and telehealth perks, many are asking: Is this a genuine tech contender that’s worth a look and try? Here’s what we know about the phone so far.

The Details

Trump Mobile is offering a patriotic-branded MVNO service and a gold “T1” smartphone priced at $499 plus a monthly “47 Plan” costing $47.45, which — yes — is symbolically tying into Trump’s presidential terms. The phone was launched on June 16, 2025, in partnership with T1 Mobile LLC and managed by Florida-based Liberty Mobile Wireless, and its network taps into the coverage of major carriers like AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. The phone service is said to include unlimited talk, text, data, and some free international calling, plus roadside assistance and telehealth — but details about pricing for anything extra is still unclear.

Made in America?

Perhaps the biggest marketing feature about the Trump Mobile device is that it is “made in America.” However, some are doubting this claim, saying U.S. manufacturing lacks the infrastructure to produce a competitive smartphone so quickly. One rumor is that the T1 is likely a rebranded version of an existing Chinese-made model like the Wingtech Revvl 7 Pro 5G. Still, the Trump Mobile website is sticking to its guns: it initially claimed full U.S. production and specs such as a 6.78″ screen and 12 GB RAM. Whether the phone becomes a true competitive player in the smartphone market remains to be seen. Some users online called the organization "the greatest grifter ever," showing that people aren't fond of this new launch.
