The sheer skirt trend is showing no signs of slowing down this fall, and the latest looks from Vogue World: Milan prove that the see-through style is quickly becoming one of the season’s biggest statement-making trends.
The fifth edition of Vogue World took place in Milan on September 22 during Milan Fashion Week, bringing together some of Hollywood’s biggest names and the fashion world’s top models. Held inside Milan’s historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, this year’s event celebrated Italian “handcrafts and innovation.”
While the star-studded runway featured plenty of memorable fashion moments, one trend repeatedly caught the attention of fashion fans: sheer skirts.
Dakota Johnson, Taraji P. Henson and Heidi Klum each offered their own interpretation of the revealing trend, proving that there are plenty of ways to incorporate transparency into an evening look.

Johnson is no stranger to sheer fashion, but she opted for a more polished take on the trend at Vogue World.
The actress wore an all-black look from Valentino’s Fall 2026 collection, pairing an open cropped blazer with a lace-trimmed top underneath. She added a black mini skirt and layered a sheer midi skirt over it, complete with lace detailing along the hem.
Floral-appliqué mules and a chain-handle handbag completed the sophisticated ensemble.

Taraji P. Henson
Henson embraced the trend with a dramatic black couture gown by Yara Shoemaker from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection.
The strapless design featured a structured bustier and satin corset that cinched her waist before flowing into a satin train. A transparent skirt overlay was layered underneath the gown, featuring scattered beadings and intricate embroidery for an eye-catching finish.
She completed the glamorous look with drop earrings and full makeup.
Heidi Klum
Klum took the sheer trend to another level with a head-to-toe transparent ensemble. The Project Runway star wore a black embroidered lace dress by designer Celia Kritharioti, featuring a lingerie-inspired silhouette and a high neckline.
The jaw-dropping gown was sheer from the long sleeves through the skirt, while intricate floral embroidery covered the bodice.
The skirt featured vertical lace detailing that added structure to the otherwise see-through design. Black mules and a black silk clutch finished the dramatic look.
With three stars putting their own spin on transparency, Vogue World: Milan made one thing clear: sheer skirts are having a major moment this fall.
