Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is officially one! On May 6, 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son celebrated his first birthday stateside. Even though he’s separated from his British fam, they sent their birthday wishes via social media.
On Archie’s birthday, the official Royal Family Instagram account shared a photo taken a couple of days after Archie's birth. In the photo, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip meet their great-grandson for the first time. Meghan's mother Doria Ragland is also in the photo smiling proudly at her grandson in Meghan's arms. In addition to the official birthday wishes from The Royal Family Instagram account, the senior members of the royal family shared private birthday wishes to Archie on their own Instagram accounts.
Kate Middleton and Prince William were in on the action too. They shared a family photo from Archie's private christening on Instagram to celebrate their nephew's birthday. They captioned the post “Wishing Archie a very happy first birthday today!”
And, Prince Charles shared a touching black and white shot of himself standing beside his son, Prince Harry, holding Archie in his arms. The proud grandfather captioned the post, “A very Happy Birthday to Archie, who turns one today.”
Meghan and Prince Harry marked Archie’s big day with a video featuring the Duchess of Sussex reading Duck! Rabbit! for the nonprofit, Save With Stories, which helps kids who have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though Meghan and Harry are no longer senior members of the royal family, they are family nonetheless. The birthday wishes from the Royal family proves that no matter the distance or drama, family is always important.
