Katy Perry turned heads in a playful stage outfit while giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at her Paris concert—but it was Justin Trudeau‘s surprise cameo that ended up stealing the spotlight.
In a promotional Instagram Reel for her new single, “Watch It Burn,” the mom of one appears in a tiny orange polka-dot romper featuring ruffled details, oversized bows on the shoulders, a blue seahorse embellishment at the front, and green ruffles along the hem. She completed the whimsical look with fishnet tights, thigh-high socks, chunky platform boots, and her hair pulled up with a large bow.

Katy Perry & Justin Trudeau Dance In New Social Media Video
While Perry sings in the foreground, several members of her crew pop into the frame—including Trudeau, who briefly hops across the screen in the 15-second clip. The former Canadian prime minister kept his look casual in a dark green T-shirt, khaki pants, and suede shoes as he danced in the background.
Although the backstage moment appeared to be all in good fun, social media users had mixed reactions to Trudeau’s appearance.
“As a Canadian, if you told me five years ago that Justin would be dancing in the background of Katy Perry’s video as her boyfriend, I’d never believe you,” one person commented.
Another wrote, “Embarrassing.”
“Dancing as good as he ran the country,” another joked.
Others added, “This ruined my day,” “This is who we elected as PM for 10 years,” and “His delusions continue: he thought he was a good leader, now he thinks he can dance…”

Fans React
Not everyone agreed with the criticism, however. "Leave him alone. He's no longer in office," one supporter wrote. "I don't think he was good for Canada, but he no longer has any responsibility to us."
Another commented, "The guy is living his life, and for some reason this angers people. Pretty sad."
A third added, "So much hate here. Leave him alone. He's a citizen again. He has the right to have fun like everyone else. He's living his best life with his new girlfriend. Get over it."
Trudeau and Perry reportedly began dating in 2025 following their respective high-profile breakups. Trudeau announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage, while Perry confirmed the end of her long-term relationship with Orlando Bloom in 2025.
The pair were first linked after being spotted together in Montreal and later appeared together in photos from a trip to Tokyo, making their relationship public.
