The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

With all the options on the market today, there’s a pair of leggings that will look good on just about anyone. Based on your body shape, here’s what will be most flattering on you.

If you have an apple shape…

For women with bigger-on-top apple figures, leggings with a midrise waist are the way to go. Prints are not your best friend and low-key colors are most flattering on you, so if you want a more fun element in your leggings, try some mesh panels towards the bottom of the legs. On the same note, avoid any detailing that will bring attention to your waist or stomach. Cropped and full-length leggings both will work just fine for you.

If you have an hourglass figure…

High-rise leggings, which slim down the midsection, work well for women with curvy hourglass figures. Any sort of side paneling is also a smart choice, as it will make your legs look leaner and longer at the same time.

If you have wide hips…

Leggings with a fold over waistband are made for women who have the curvy hips of a triangle body type. Choose one that hits just under your belly button so that the waistband doesn’t digging into your body. (Waistbands that are wider than normal will do the same trick.) Prints aren’t a great choice, nor or crops – both will draw attention to your larger bottom half. Long legs and bold solid colors are both better options.

If you’re petite…

Women who have bodies that are petite in general look great in leggings with bold prints, color blocking and even risque cutouts. Pants that are cropped at the bottom will make your legs look longer and create the overall illusion that you’re taller than you really are. Lower-cut waists are also a good idea for this reason.

If you have a rectangular frame…

The straight-from-top-to-bottom rectangle body shape looks good in anything that adds a bit of curve. In leggings, this looks like cropped legs or a long lower waist style that hits just under the belly button. A rectangle body can pull off any sort of prints or colors–even matte metallics–so go as wild as you’d like.
