One of Taylor Swift‘s friends and backup dancers is under fire on social media for committing one of the most well-known wedding guest faux pas.
Tori Evans is one of the pop star’s infamous backup dancers who worked on her record-breaking Eras Tour, and quickly went viral after posting an Instagram reel that showed off her outfit for the massive wedding at Madison Square Garden. Celebrating the football star and Grammy-winner, Tori flaunted her dress, which was a sort of ivory shade, that immediately triggered comments from fans who thought it was “inappropriate” of her to wear a bridal color during her friend’s big day. Taylor Swift's Backup Dancer, Tori Evans, Posts Video In An Off-White Dress For Her & Travis Kelce's Wedding
One of the most talked-about events from last weekend was the large, expensive, and star-studded wedding hosted by Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. The wedding took place inside Madison Square Garden, the legendary NYC concert and sports venue, and had stars of all different callibers in attendance along with their family and friends.
Several of those invited were the "Opalite" singer's co-workers, including her backup dancers from her legendary Eras Tour. One of whom was Tori Evans, who joined the tour during its start in March 2023 and its conclusion in December 2024. Over those years, the dancer has spoken out about how great it is to work with Taylor, suggesting they've created a bond and friendship while on the road.
After the wedding on July 3rd, the yoga instructor shared an Instagram reel of her before and after getting into her dress for the evening, posing alongside her husband, TJ Shaw. She had on a strapless gown made from satin-like pink champagne and ivory-colored fabrics, completed with a coordinating halter-style scarf and bright yellow-green heels.

Social Media Users & Swifties Slam Tori's Dress Color In The Comments
After the Eras Tour dancer shared her Instagram reel, it didn't take long for all sorts of users, from Swifties to other pop culture enthusiasts, to begin commenting on her look for the evening.
Many found the dress to be an extremely controversial choice, as its shade, which her husband commented was a "champagne pink," appeared almost white, with the entire look having a bridal aesthetic to it. Though it's unclear what Taylor and Travis' dress code was, and if guests were encouraged to wear whatever kind of black tie look they wanted, an infamous wedding guest tradition is not to wear white, so as not to take attention away from the bride.
Because the 36-year-old musician is one of the most famous brides of the decade, many social media users stood up for her moment as a bride, slamming Tori in return for her "utter audacity."
"All your friends are talking behind your back for this one," commented an Instagram user.
"Even if it's pink, but it's so close to white lol why choose that color to wear to someone's wedding?" asked another.
One user asked, "Who wears an almost white dress to the Queen Mother's wedding?"
Some users wrote that the dress was "inappropriate," "tacky," and "so, so wrong," as one accused her of "creating controversy at Taylor's wedding for media attention."
