With each new year comes a whole new plethora of exciting trends, technology, and styles. Therefore, you want your kitchen to be up to date, and as one of the most used rooms in the house, you want your kitchen to be stylish and sleek, but also functional and cost-efficient. The kitchen is a space that deals with a lot of wear and tear, so it might need a revamp after all of its use. Luckily, there are plenty of fun ways you can restyle your kitchen this year!

1.The Pros and Cons of a Wood Stove

Wood burning stoves are becoming increasingly popular in people’s homes and kitchens as a means of heating and cooking. Wood burning stoves use wood as fuel rather than electricity or gas. There are a lot of different options and styles for a wood stove, so it is all about preference and what works for you. They provide a vintage look to one’s home with a ton of other advantages.

While wood-burning stoves may be stylish and beneficial in some areas, there are a couple of downsides to consider when buying a wood stove. Since the stove uses wood as fuel, you must have a constant supply of wood to keep it going continuously. They are also larger and take up more space in one’s home because they require a larger boiler. The upfront cost can also be rather high, taking a couple of years for the owner to see any savings. Equipment for drying wood for optimum use can also be expensive and timely.

However, there are also many benefits of a wood-burning stove and a lot of ways that buying one can improve your home. The fuel needed, whether it is logs, wood chips, or lumber yard waste, is extremely renewable, sustainable, and widely available. The cost for these goods is usually rather stable too, so you consistently know how much you will be spending on fuel. This form of energy can also be good for the environment and help the health of forests. Removing dead wood from the forest can lower the chance of a wildfire in some areas. A wood stove can also have lower carbon emissions than coal or electricity with proper engineering. You can also use pellets, which are compressed woody biomass that releases very small levels of pollution and is a carbon-neutral fuel source. There are a lot of advantages of using a wood-burning stove for your wallet and the environment!

2.The New Necessity of a Large Island

With the many challenges presented to us by 2020, people have discovered that their kitchen island has more uses than to hold a charcuterie board and the daily mail. The island is now functioning as an office or a school, leading many consumers to look for large options for the island so that more people can utilize the space. Islands are a great way to break up the open space of a kitchen and provide more countertop space and more storage. Islands are also a great place to eat breakfast or socialize. A large island can turn any kitchen into a social area rather than a transitional space simply for eating or grabbing food. Whatever 2021 brings, the large island is here to stay.

3.The Sleek Look of Wood Furnishings

Not only are wood stoves becoming more popular, but also the use of word furnishings in cabinets, chairs, plates, and islands. This trend has not been seen since the mid-1900s, giving the kitchen a vintage feel. There are a plethora of wood paneling options that can add that natural feel to your kitchen. Plates and wooden silverware are also becoming popular and are eco-friendly. Wood furnishings are a great mixture of vintage and modern that provide your home with a warm and natural feeling.

4.New Choices in Paint Color

Some of the most common colors in the kitchen are white and gray, yet that is changing in 2021 to a darker color palette that includes navy, charcoal, and dark green. Stainless steel is still the most preferred type of appliance, but now people are tending to go for a darker shade of cabinets to accentuate the shine of their appliances. People are feeling adventurous in their color choices and tired of the standard white kitchens. Is this because many people have spent more time in their kitchen in the past year than ever before? We may never know, but we do know that a new layer of paint to your kitchen will give it new life and fit right into the kitchen trends of 2021.
