The time has come to say goodbye to some once beloved wedding trends. Here are the ones that are on their way out for 2016.

Rustic Centerpieces.

A trend falling by the wayside in 2016 will be rustic floral centerpieces and bouquets, says Bronwen Smith of B Floral. “Arrangements with mix-matched florals, branches, and succulents became very overdone in 2015. More focus will be on sleek and modern pieces."

Mason Jars and Burlap.

It’s time for mason jars and burlap to bite the dust, says Kristen Ley Green of Something New for I Do. “I think most wedding professionals are over this trend, but it’s interesting because girls who fell in love with this look when it was really popular (and then much later got engaged and started planning) are still asking for mason jars and burlap even now--not knowing that the trend has become a little dated and very overdone. An alternative look that is more timely and refined, yet offers the same feel, is natural linen."

Cupcakes.

This one-time creative alternative to the wedding cake has been overdone, says Amanda Welters of D'Amico Catering Event Planner.

Light Pink Color Schemes.

“How many combos of pink, gray, creme, gold and white can we see? This horse is dead and beaten,” says Danielle Rothweiler of Rothweiler Event Design.

Signature His and Her Cocktails.

Couples shouldn’t feel pressure to come up with two complimentary cocktails, says Kristen Zwieg of D'Amico Catering Event Planner.

Sit Down Dinners.

Couples are doing whatever they can to make their reception less formal and more like a party, such as having food stations and cocktail-style receptions, says Rothweiler.

Candy Buffets.

These popular favor options--color coordinated to match your décor!--are out for the next year, says Zwieg.

Large Guest Lists.

"For the couples that are footing the bill themselves, there is very little pressure (if any) to invite mom and dad's entourage from college/work/whatever,” says Rothweiler. "Weddings are becoming more intimate and couples are starting to invite those that they have actually spent time with in the past year."

DJ Only.

This year will see a combo of DJs and live musicians working together to provide wedding entertainment. “I work with some amazing DJs, but a live musician or two or three will enhance what a DJ can bring to a reception. I have seen everything including singers, percussionists, pianists, and trumpet players perform with the DJ and it's always amazing," says Rothweiler.

Bright Fall Colors.

Bright colored bouquets in red, orange, and yellow are leaving, says Raechel Schwarze, BloomNation florist and owner of KD Floral and Gardens. “It’s time to make way for deeper, more beautiful shades."

Submerged Cylinders.

Sharyl LaBelle, BloomNation florist and owner of Promises Floral and Gift Studio is thankful that submerged cylinders are on the way out. "Salmon and coral are also almost ready to go," she says.
