Most brides are on some kind of budget for their wedding planning, but there are certain expenses you don’t want to skimp on. Here are six that are worth laying out the extra cash for because they can make or break your big day.
Photographer
These are photos that you will cherish for years to come, so you don’t want to skimp and hire someone without the right experience, says Erin Bhoorasingh, lead photographer and owner of Grand Lens Photography. “A pro photographer knows how to pose you so you look your greatest. They also ensure the lighting is most flattering.”
Wedding Gown
“Yes, you only wear it once, but it will be in 90 percent of your photos that you are paying thousands for,” says Danielle Rothweiler of Rothweiler Event Design. “Get what you want and splurge here because if you don't love your dress, nothing else will matter on the wedding day.”
Band/Entertainment
Most wedding guests won't remember what they ate or what the centerpieces looked like but they'll remember if your wedding was fun! And the best way to get people on the dance floor is with a killer band, says Rachel Jo Silver of Love Stories TV.
Lighting
Candles, chandeliers, paper globes, uplights, gobos: You can cut your decor budget in half with the correct ambient lighting for an event, says Karen Emery of A Wedding for You.
Open Bar
If you are looking for that dance party atmosphere, a little liquid courage doesn't hurt, says Emore Campbell. “Your guests have traveled all this way to celebrate your union, and will be thrown off if they have to get cash for the paid bar. Splurge for your open bar, with premium spirits and fun cocktails.”
Wedding Planner
It’s not until brides are waist deep in wedding planning trouble that they realize, “I need help." “Wedding planning can be stressful, especially for ladies with blooming careers, and while your best friend wants to help - she's also really busy. Hire a wedding planner to turn your vision into reality. You'll spend more money, but you'll save way more time and stress,” says Campbell.
