Angelina Jolie Reportedly Wanted To Subpoena Brad Pitt In Their Ugly Court Battle–This Is So Bad!

Angelina Jolie and her lawyers reportedly wanted to subpoena her ex-husband Brad Pitt at the SAG Awards in February, as reported by Page Six. This update is the latest in the Jolie-Pitt divorce and French winery (Château Miraval) lawsuit drama— and allegedly— the Maleficent star’s plans to serve the Bullet Train actor with papers were quite elaborate.

Lawyers for Jolie, 47, reportedly “stationed process servers at the glitziest events in Hollywood in hopes of catching [Pitt] off guard,” the publication writes. Page Six adds that they were apparently told that Jolie’s lawyers “even sent a guy to confront the Fight Club star with the documents at the 2022 SAG Awards in February, and insiders say they likely would have tried again at the Oscars but Pitt’s lawyers called off the chase before Hollywood’s biggest night rolled around.”

Sources also allegedly revealed that “servers had been having a hard time trying to hand Pitt the papers — which makes it a legal requirement for someone to respond to a court — and were hoping he would show up at the SAG Awards as a previous winner,” Page Six continues.

Although Pitt, 58, was not nominated in 2022, he previously snagged the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2020 (leading Jolie’s lawyers to think he would return to the event again this year). Ultimately, Pitt did not make an appearance at the awards ceremony, leaving the plan impossible.

The former couple (often dubbed ‘Brangelina’) officially called it quits in September 2016 after marrying in 2014 and confirming their relationship in 2006. Their current legal battle over ownership of the winery began after Jolie sold her shares in it to a subsidiary of Stoli, a noteworthy liquor firm. Pitt has since claimed that Jolie was not entitled to sell her shares without first offering him the right of refusal. Now, the two are dueling over whether she can demand the paperwork that she requested.

In the most recent legal update last week, Page Six reported that a judge ruled that Pitt and his business partners have to turn over the papers. His camp, however, may still appeal. The Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-stars were married at the chateau in 2014 after 10 years together and share six children: Maddox, 19, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and Vivenne and Knox, both 12.

The celebrity tactic of serving papers in a public place made headlines back in April when Olivia Wilde received papers that related to her custody battle with Jason Sudeikis. The Booksmart director, as many will recall, was served with them in the middle of giving her speech on stage during CinemaCon.
