Ariana Grande has been more and more outspoken about her politics over the last few years, but it looks like one of her closest relatives isn’t on the same page.

Social media users and fans of the pop star are losing it after Instagram users discovered that her father, Edward Butera, is following Donald Trump and fan accounts for the current president. Though this is something that’s been discussed before, users commented on the ironic situation, considering Ariana’s been through her fair share of backlash for speaking out against Trump. Read more about the situation below.

Social Media Users Discover Ariana Grande's Father Is Following Trump Support Accounts On Instagram

President Donald Trump's second term in the White House, as well as the policies he's put in place, have been so controversial that numerous celebrities have been speaking out against him. One of those celebrities is the "twilight zone" singer, who has gradually been calling him out on social media.

Though she's become well known for her more left-leaning, liberal politics, supporting her LGBTQ+ fanbase and Democratic politicians, it appears that one of her close family members is leaning the other way despite it all. Ariana's dad, graphic designer Edward Butera, has a public Instagram account, occasionally sharing behind-the-scenes family content that fans enjoy.

However, both he and his daughter are receiving a new wave of backlash after Instagram users discovered he's not only following President Donald Trump's account, but also First Lady Melania's page, a Trump organization account, and a Donald Trump fan account.

As it turns out, this isn't the first time the Grammy-winner's fanbase has noticed her dad following a few Trump accounts, but now that it's resurfaced, they still have a lot to say on the matter.

While children disagreeing with their parents' politics is not uncommon and certainly happens in many families, some fans of Ariana's, as well as internet users, are expressing both concern and skepticism surrounding the situation.

Some even fear it's a sign she might not be practicing what she preaches, despite reposting a graphic about "checking in" with Trump supporters on the lack of progress in his second term that they called "ignorant."

"So, guilty by association, right?" responded an X user.

"Ariana is quite literally MAGA too," speculated another. "She just knows she has to put on a performative democrat act."

One user called the situation "concerning," as another wrote it was "weird."

Backlash aside, she still had a lot of fans defending her and backing her up with more evidence of her left-leaning views.

"Good thing we're fans of Ariana Grande, not Ed Butera," wrote a user.

"Y'all never had questionable family members y'all don't align with?" asked another.
