Madonna is about to make even more headlines than usual as she’s closer to releasing her new album, but she just confirmed that her once-in-the-works biopic is not coming to fruition.
In a new interview, the singer opened up about the biographical film that was supposed to be made about her life with her added input, and how one of the reasons it was shut down was because she had a falling out with Universal Studios, particularly over its budget. After reading about how Madonna was involved in canceling her own biopic, fans expressed their disappointment, and some even wrote that they were angry. Read more about the situation below.

Madonna Reveals Why She Shut Down Her Biopic With Universal Studios
One of the biggest names in the music industry is undoubtedly the "Vogue" singer, who is still making waves and headlines decades into her successful career as a pop star and style icon.
Now that she's in her late 60s, it's expected that her story will begin to get told in other forms, most commonly, a biographical film about her life. Around three to four years ago, reports began emerging that Universal Studios had one in the works, which would star Ozark's Julia Garner as the pop diva. However, about a year later, more reports came out that the project had stalled.
Now, during her latest cover story and interview with Interview magazine, the Grammy-winner has admitted that she played a big role in stalling and subsequently canceling the movie.
"I was supposed to make a movie about my life," she told the publication. "I worked on my script for two years and spent two years at Universal Studios with the line producers doing budgeting and casting...[We] had a falling out, me and Universal, regarding the budget. I've had an extraordinary life. I've had a huge life, so I needed a big budget."

Fans & Social Media Users React To Madonna's Budget Comments
Later on in her interview, the mom-of-six revealed that not only did she attempt to convince Universal Studios to film the biopic for less money in Serbia instead, but that she was also reached out to by Netflix so they could do a series on her life.
"That was a whole other long process, because I couldn't use the script I had with Universal unless I bought it from them for an extortionist's price, even though I wrote it," she added. "Don't ask."
Despite the idea of a new Madonna-related project on the horizon, her fans were still disappointed that they weren't getting the major motion picture they were hoping for. Additionally, others even expressed anger and disappointment in the singer, writing comments on social media platforms about how she should 'get over herself.'
"Fund it yourself, diva!" commented a user.
"Get over yourself," added another.
"I would definitely go see it," wrote a fan, as another added, "can't you fund it yourself then?"
