I love Athleta leggings, so I was doing my usual payday ritual of checking out the New Arrivals section recently when I saw a cute striped sweater that was exactly something I'd been looking for for work. (I wanted to style something like this, a spring outfit with skinnies, a striped top and ballet flats.)

I hadn't shopped for street clothing let alone work clothing at Athleta before, but I decided to try it out. Their return policy is good, so I knew if it was too casual I could always send it back (or, more likely, just wear it on the weekends).

The package arrived at my doorstep two days later. I rushed to try the sweater on first. The quality was so good. The sweater was true to size and it was totally work appropriate (IDK why I thought it wouldn't be.)

I've washed the sweater several times, and it's held up so well. It hasn't shrunk or pilled or anything like that. It is one of the easiest pieces of clothing I own, especially compared to other work stuff that's dry-clean only!

I decided to try more drape-y sweaters from them, a skort (yes, they have skorts--totally genius for really active women, and your 4th grade self would approve), and some harem-style trousers. I've worn everything to work a *ton*.

The quality and sizing has been so consistent (I'm pretty practical and a stickler about that kind of stuff), and the pieces are versatile so I've been able to get a lot of outfits out of 6 or so pieces. They're super comfortable and the prices are good, too. I even turned my friend who's in banking on to them. The clothes are professional enough for her office--which says a lot since finance dress codes are pretty rigid (like, suits).

Who would have thought an athleisure brand could be so good for professional clothes? I didn't, but I'm so glad I found out!
