Netflix treated fans to the first look at the entire Addams family for its upcoming series, Wednesday!, on Instagram on Tuesday, August 16th – and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ transformation into Morticia Addams has blown our minds!
The eight-episode series directed by Tim Burton will center on Wednesday Adams, while she studies at the Nevermore Academy. 19-year-old Stuck In The Middle actress Jenna Ortega, who plays the role of Wednesday, can be seen wearing a black and white polka-dot dress in the promo pic, with her hair in Wednesday’s signature long black braids, while Catherine is wearing a figure-hugging black dress with a sexy plunging neckline, with her long, poker-straight hair styled behind her shoulders. Wow! Fans also got to see the first look at Luis Guzmán as Wednesday’s father, Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as her brother, Pugsley.

But it was the 52-year-old Oscar-winner‘s spot-on look that sent fans wild, and they couldn’t help but flood the comments section with praise after seeing her dramatic and beyond-accurate transformation into the Addams family matriarch!
“Catherine!!!” exclaimed one fan, followed by the heart eyes emoji. “I’m screaming,” added another excited fan. “They look amazing!!!,” commented another, followed by a starry-eyes emoji. “If Tim burtons touched it you know it’s gonna be amazing,” predicted another, followed by two fire emojis. “So excited for this!!” wrote another fan, followed by five fire emojis.
The trailer for Wednesday! was released the following day, which was very aptly on Wednesday, August 17th. Back in September, the former Darling Buds of May actress said how “excited” she was to embody the famous character, who was previously played by Carolyn Jones in the TV series, Anjelica Huston in The Addams Family movie and its sequel Addams Family Values, Daryl Hannah in the film Addams Family Reunion, and Ellie Harvie in the revival series, The New Addams Family.
“I’m just about to start shooting in Romania,” Catherine told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “I’m so excited to be working with the great Tim Burton, and the makeup and costume designer who I’ve worked with before, and with Luis Guzmán, playing Gomez, who I worked with on Traffic. It’s going to be a really great camaraderie. I’m really looking forward to it.” There’s no official release date for Wednesday!, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled!
