Donald Trump has been concerning fans with many things these days – from falling asleep in public to forgetting people’s names, among other things – and now, a viral video of him sitting on a pillow while hosting French President Emmanuel Macron at Trump Tower has sparked even more questions.
The president was filmed moving a decorative pillow onto the sofa and sitting on top of it while hosting Macron at his New York City apartment at the end of last month. And as you might expect, the internet has a lot of theories as to why he did so! Keep reading for more info…

Donald Trump Sits On A Pillow While Hosting Emmanuel Macron At Trump Tower
In a video that is getting a lot of people talking, the POTUS, 80, can be seen welcoming the French president into his apartment, while Macron was in town for the United Nations General Assembly.
The two men can be seen walking into an ornately decorated gold and white room before taking seats on a light-colored sofa. Macron sits down in the middle of the sofa, while Trump moves a decorative pillow onto the seat before sitting on it. And the internet is full of theories as to why he did that!
Les crises du monde ne s’arrêtent pas à nos frontières. Elles impactent nos compatriotes, menacent notre sécurité, notre pouvoir d’achat, notre avenir. One theory is that he could have been trying to make himself appear taller, which is something that has been discussed online recently. The president has claimed that he is 6'3", but appeared similar in height to Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is listed as being 5'11" last month.
There was more chatter about his height when he was standing next to pro golfer Adam Scott, who is listed at 6 feet, in a recent Presidents Cup handshake video. Questions also arose following pictures of Trump with Prince William, who is widely listed at 6'3", as the president appeared noticeably shorter than the heir to the British throne.
Others wondered whether sitting on the pillow could have made it easier for Trump to get back to his feet, given how low the sofa appeared to be.

Internet Reacts To Donald Trump Sitting On A Pillow
Naturally, social media users had a lot to say about the unusual moment. "Who sits on a pillow?" questioned one person on an Independent Instagram video captioned: "Trump bizarre sitting ritual sparks speculation." A second similarly asked: "Who sits on pillows? No one sits on pillows." "Very very strange!" exclaimed a third.
"If he's too old to sit right he's too old to sit in the Oval Office," criticized a fourth, although others were quick to point out that there could be a much simpler explanation.
"It's a low couch and he's 80... why is this news?" asked a fifth. "Even Macron nearly falls backwards it's so low..." noted a sixth, as a seventh confessed: "I'm 20 years younger than Trump and have problems getting up from a couch. Getting old sucks."
"Older people sometimes need higher surfaces to make it easier to stand up," explained an eighth, while a ninth simply suggested: "Maybe it's just comfier?"
Others weren't convinced by those explanations. "Surely he could afford a higher sofa, odd to use a cushion. He just likes to be taller than everyone else, makes him feel superior," speculated a tenth person.
"Does he want to appear taller?" questioned an eleventh. "Trump did that to appear taller," theorized a twelfth, as a thirteenth joked: "I believe that's called height-maxxing."
And it wasn't just Trump's unusual seating choice that got people talking, as the apartment's lavish décor also came under fire.
"That hideous apartment," criticized a fourteenth person. "Hideous room..." agreed a fifteenth. "The tacky bling is everywhere," added a sixteenth, as a seventeenth asked: "How garish is that apartment? So tacky."
