This led to a massive wave of backlash on social media, with users writing about how he doesn’t deserve one. Read more about the situation below.

Donald Trump Says He Wants To Give Himself & His Sons Congressional Medals Of Honor During Speech
There have been a lot of headlines circulating around the president over the last week alone, with all of the Freedom 250 events happening surrounding the 4th of July and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Yesterday, on July 1st, the president traveled to North Dakota for the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, a space dedicated to the 26th president, educating visitors about his life, as well as promoting some of his core values and principles, like sustainability and conservation.
During the opening ceremony for the historical library, the president made a speech where he ended up going off on numerous tangents, one of which was about his sons, who were in attendance, and how proud he is of them, as well as how he thinks they deserve Congressional Medals of Honor. He also added that he wanted to give one to himself.
"There are very few people who have them. I want to give one to myself, but they tell me I'm not allowed to," he said. "My son over here, both of them, I said, 'Fellas, I'd love to give one of them to me. What have I done, where I deserve it,' and they couldn't think of anything. So I'm not happy with them today."

Social Media Users React To Trump's Speech & Slam Him On Social Media
After the Apprentice star made his speech during the presidential library's ceremony, it quickly went viral online, as social media users began circulating some of the more controversial clips and quotes from it.
His comments about wanting to give himself a Congressional Medal of Honor, which is considered to be the highest military honor someone can receive in the United States, especially struck a nerve with many people, who felt insulted by the idea of him having one, considering he's never fought in the military or served his country in that capacity. Additionally, he also famously avoided the Vietnam War draft, providing medical and educational excuses.
"Maybe if ya weren't a draft dodger you might have had a small chance," joked an Instagram user.
"The cringe knows no bounds," added another, as another wrote, "This can't be allowed to continue."
One user called the president's comments "disgusting," as another called it a "sad joke."
"He has lost what little was left of his malfunctioning brain," commented an angry user. "It would demean the medal for every soldier who ever got it. My God, what have we come to?" "What have you done?" another asked him.
