It can seem like an iPhone is a necessity in life — but it’s such a part of everyday existence that we sometimes forget the enormous investment it is. Considering the expense of an iPhone, it makes even more sense that you would look for ways to make it last as long as possible.

“The Apple iPhone series was a technological marvel in its time, but once the battery dies, it’s about as helpful as a chunk of cleaned glass in your pocket,” says Tech Expert Steven Walker, CEO of Spylix Phones. “Not to mention the benefits when it occurs at the most inconvenient time. People are left asking how to make their iPhone last for years, how else to keep their iPhone running longer, how to make their iPhone stay on longer, or how to make their iPhone natter live longer. All of these things can be performed with these iPhone battery life recommendations.”

Walker offers four easy hacks for making your iPhone last so much longer.

Make Your Battery Work Less

“Reduce the impact on your iPhone’s battery life by turning down the volume and, if possible, wearing headphones,” Walker says. “Until the cell battery is fully charged, Low Power Mode temporarily disables or reduces background programs such as mail fetch, Siri services, background app refresh, automated downloads, and some visual effects. To save even more electricity, you can set a volume limit and turn off the EQ.”

Turn Off Siri

The virtual assistant is a nice throw-in feature, but it can be extremely taxing on your phone. “When your iPhone is charging, it will listen for ‘Hey Siri,’ so if you use this feature, turn it off,” Walker says. “Don’t deactivate or turn off your apps because most of them don’t deplete the battery while they’re not in use. You can also use even more batteries by repeatedly double-tapping the Home button and dismissing them.”

Refresh Background Apps

“Select Settings > General > Background App from the drop-down menu,” Walker says. “The list should be refreshed and reviewed. Make a note of how much time is left on standby and in use, then press the sleep/wake button and wait 10 minutes. Turn off any apps that don't require automatic updates. When you switch them back on, they'll still update and work; they won't stay running when they're not in use.”

Control How You Update Your Device

“Automatically updating your iPhone's Music, Apps, and iOS will drain the battery once more,” Walker says. “The iPhone may also update everything at the most inconvenient time. To save battery life, go to iTunes & App Store and turn off the use of cellular data. It will now only conduct updates over Wi-Fi.”
